Dhauj Village in Haryana Faces Stigma Amid Terror Module Case

Faridabad: Dhauj, a village in Haryana’s Faridabad district, historically known for its harmony and notable residents, has recently been thrust into the spotlight under unfortunate circumstances. The village is now associated with allegations linked to a terror module case connected to Al-Falah University, leaving residents embarrassed and anxious about their community’s reputation.

From Limca Book of Records to Unwanted Headlines

Villagers point out that Dhauj has a proud history, with its name having been recorded in the Limca Book of Records in 2001. The village has long been recognized for producing high court judges, lawyers, and army personnel, and its legacy of peace and communal harmony has remained intact for decades.

Villagers Speak Out

Residents argue that the actions of a few individuals should not tarnish the reputation of the entire village. “All communities here live together peacefully. No illegal or terrorist activities have occurred historically,” said villagers. Retired Additional Sessions Judge Abdul Majid also questioned the investigative agencies, asking why the security forces failed to detect the terror module in Al-Falah University, which is barely a kilometer from the local police station. He emphasized that the focus should be on agency lapses rather than blaming the village.

Support for Local Landlord Haji Madrasi

Haji Madrasi, who rented a room to the accused Majummil, has received public support from villagers. They explained that Majummil had represented himself as a doctor in a prominent position. “It is unreasonable to hold a landlord responsible for the private actions of a tenant,” said the villagers. They have urged authorities to conduct impartial, fact-based investigations and protect the village’s longstanding reputation.

University Staff and Students in Distress

The ongoing case has left students and medical staff at Al-Falah University worried about their future. Hospital staff working in the university are facing difficulties obtaining relieving letters or finding jobs elsewhere due to the university’s current negative association. Medical students are also concerned about career prospects. Continuous questioning and scrutiny by security agencies have caused widespread anxiety among the university community, with some staff even avoiding the campus and refusing calls out of fear of being suspected of connections to the alleged terror activities.

The Dhauj village incident underscores the challenges faced by communities inadvertently linked to criminal or terror-related incidents, emphasizing the need for fair investigations that distinguish individual culpability from collective blame.
