Dhruv Rathee Slams Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’, Compares It to ISIS Videos; Accuses Aditya Dhar of “Poisoning Young Minds

YouTuber and popular content creator Dhruv Rathee has launched a sharp attack on Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film Dhurandhar, comparing its violent scenes to brutal videos circulated by ISIS. Rathee also criticised director Aditya Dhar, accusing him of crossing every limit “in greed for money” and “injecting poison into young minds.”

The trailer of Dhurandhar—a film that fans had eagerly awaited—released recently and immediately triggered a storm of controversy. While a section of the audience praised the high-octane action, many drew parallels with Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal due to its intense violence. Dhruv Rathee, however, took the criticism several steps further.

“Watching the Trailer Feels Like Watching ISIS Beheading Videos”

Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Rathee wrote:

“Aditya Dhar has truly crossed the lowest levels of Bollywood. The trailer contains such extreme violence, bloodshed and torture that watching it feels exactly like watching ISIS beheading videos—and then selling that brutality as entertainment.”

He accused the director of promoting insensitivity towards violence, glorifying torture, and pushing dangerous content under the guise of cinema.

“Poisoning the Youth for Money”

Rathee lashed out further, saying:

“In the greed for money, Aditya Dhar has gone so far that he is poisoning the minds of the youth. He is making them numb and indifferent towards brutal violence.”

According to Rathee, the level of gore showcased in the trailer raises serious concerns about the direction mainstream cinema is taking.

“What Bothers the Censor Board More—A Kiss or Skinning a Man Alive?”

In a direct appeal to the Censor Board, Rathee demanded strict scrutiny of the violent sequences.

“This is the moment for the Censor Board to prove what really bothers them more—two people kissing, or a man being skinned alive.”

Two scenes from the trailer—one showing Arjun Rampal (as an ISI Major) allegedly skinning a man alive, and another where Akshaye Khanna kills a man brutally with stones—have particularly shocked viewers.

The Cast and Storyline

Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh as an Indian spy captured in Pakistan. The film also features Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and R. Madhavan in key roles. The film, directed by Aditya Dhar, is set to release on 5 December.

With controversy escalating just days before release, all eyes are now on both the Censor Board and the film’s makers.
